I was born in Spain and moved with my young family to the U.S. where we lived in many places throughout. Although it was not always a main focus, art has always been part of my life while raising my three kids. I have exhibited in New York, Florida, and more prominently, in California. As a member of the Central Coast Art Association during my time in California, I was a part of a number of two-artist and juried group exhibitions in the Monterey area as well as a solo exhibition in Seaside. I also exhibited in two galleries – the Artists’ Loft at Cannery Row and the Eagle’s Eye Gallery in Monterey. One year, I participated in the Monterey County Fair and here my paintings won 1st Place, 3rd Place and Honourable Mention in the three categories I entered – one of my watercolours was also awarded the ‘Viewers’ Choice Award’ – an achievement I am honoured to have.
A few years ago we settled in Cambridgeshire in the UK – here I was able to start focusing on art fully. I have since taken part in group exhibitions with other local artists and in 2016 I was selected to be a member of the Society of East Anglia Watercolourists (SEAW).
Inspired by the Impressionist painters – in particular Spanish painter Sorrolla – I paint landscapes, portraits and still life. Though I mainly use watercolour and oils, when I joined a life drawing group in Ely, it sparked my interest in the human figure – and with it an interest in experimenting with charcoal and ink.
